ANEMOS Kicks Off: Driving the Next Generation of Wind Energy Manufacturing

Europe’s wind-energy ambitions require not only more wind turbines, but also smarter, safer and more sustainable ways of manufacturing them.

We are pleased to formally introduce ANEMOS Project, Automated and sustainable digital manufacturing for resilient and integrated wind energy systems, a 42-month Horizon Europe Innovation Action launched in May 2026, at NTNU in Gjøvik (Norwegian University of Science and Technology), with nearly €6.5 million in EU funding, via CINEA – European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency.

Coordinated by ASEMlab of NTNU Faculty of Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), ANEMOS brings together 11 partners across Europe, with Siemens Gamesa contributing its industrial expertise, use cases and real-world manufacturing environments for demonstration.

ANEMOS will develop and demonstrate, at TRL 7, innovative manufacturing technologies for two key wind-turbine components: rotor blades and nacelle busbars. The project combines:

  • Automated preform lay-up for wind turbine blade manufacturing
  • Digitalised binder activation, sensorisation, real-time monitoring and digital-twin technologies
  • Eco-designed busbars manufactured from recycled aluminium using advanced metal additive manufacturing
  • Industrial validation and standardisation pathways to support future market uptake

Our shared ambition is to enable faster, safer, more reproducible and more resource-efficient production, reducing material waste and emissions while strengthening the competitiveness and resilience of Europe’s wind-energy value chain.

We look forward to sharing the project’s developments, demonstrations and results over the coming months.
